that doesn't sound to me like a power supply issue. and if it was, it wouldn't make your nic card go bonkers if the gpu was pulling some wattage. something strange is afoot here, and i would be ready to blame it on shitty updated drivers, or perhaps you were surfing for midget gangster lemonparty/chinese foot pr0n and caught something strange.

update your virus definitions and do a full sweep. I seriously doubt if it's a hardware problem.

EDIT: and the post title "fucking computer's" implies that the computer is taking ownership of something/someone (perhaps you). "Fucking computers" might be a better suggestion, but then that would imply that two or more computers are physically copulating (which i suppose would be pretty fucking cool in it's own right".

the implications are staggering.

When i went to PC world i told them the problem i was having with my compter (When i was getting my new graphic card ) he said that it could be my power supply and said something about the wattage and that blew my old graphic card.

According to the way his post reads, he bought his graphics card at PC World. While jaws is right that some stores do try to convince you that you need shit you really don't. They may have been part right.. Some of the new graphics cards require much larger power supplies.. as for it causing your NIC to crash.. that would be weird. But after all..it IS a computer.. If your power supply is right at the min required for your card.. it could be making things screwy.

If you are going to replace it.. in HOPES that it will fix the issue.. I would go bigger than what you actually need. 750w to 850w is a good safe zone as of now. Nothing needs anything that big, but if everything is running on your system at the same time, this will help spread the load.

I do agree with sorter though.. it sounds very unusual.. but I hope that they weren't puffin ya full of "buy this so we make money" crap.. Good luck man.

I had one PC here with a wireless card that had a crappy signal but strong enough to connect. However, whenever you onpened a youtube video or something like that we lost the conection to the network. When I switched the PSU for a 450w (yes, the other PSU was a 180W or something)the problem was solved. Never saw that happening with wired NIC though.

Well to rule out that the psu is wrong, run a stress test

Evrything over 500 watt is over kill to normail users, they are expensiver, produce more heat=sounds more, Still I recomend a 500 watt quality psu over a not so familliar 700+ psu, in worst case your psu will roast your cpu+gpu, any1 heard of ace?(read alot of threads regarding this brand burning up computers in sweden)

My machine came factory from dell with a 750w psu. It is neither hot, nor noisy.. But here's what I'm putting into my build.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817341018

Hitman, if they're tellin ya to try a PSU, then give it hell. It could be that one game's requirements are lower than the others.. its a computer man.. and like a car.. sometimes it makes sense, sometimes shit happens and ya don't know why.
That link is a US company, so you may want to hunt online near you to avoid the massive shipping costs. Believe it or not, ebay has alot of shit like this in the ebay stores section.

@Jaws.. "typical user" would be indicative of a non-gaming person, in that case.. you're right.
BUT 500w is barely enough for someone who games and uses a serious GPU.

Examples: The GTX260 requires atleast 525w PSU.. the GTX295 requires a 680w PSU Those are BFG cards..
The gts 250 I'm going to use in my build needs a minimum 450w PSU.. I wouldn't want to try a 500w..

Add fans, a second GPU.. whatever else.. 500w don't cut it for gaming anymore
